It’s summertime, and the living is easy

Are you making the most of your patio/yard as an extension of your living space and an ideal spot for entertaining?  I have a client who has purchased quite a lot of outdoor furniture from me, and was kind enough to share the results of her own outdoor oasis. I love the how the turquoise […]

Pull up a chair

I don’t know about you,  but when I have company, it seems that there are never enough seats to go around.  It becomes a grown up version of musical chairs.  Why not provide extra spots that are tucked away, yet close at hand, but out of the way when not needed? A timeless way of accomplishing […]

Have you met my new best friends, Houzz and Pinterest?

It’s been said that a picture is worth a thousand words.  If that’s the case, Houzz.com and pinterest.com must be priceless. I have always loved leafing through, collecting, and yes, even hoarding, design magazines.  Now by using these social bookmarking websites, my passion can be fulfilled without cluttering up my magazine racks, while also being eco-friendly. The striking Fontaine mirror would make a bold statement anywhere you put […]

Lovely Legs

When I have a client who is in the market for a dining room set, I ask a few questions to help narrow the infinite choices that we have here at Furnitureland South. One of the first questions I ask is whether they have a preference for pedestals or legs. A pedestal design often allows more […]

Motif of the Day: Quatrefoil

By definition, a quatrefoil is a panel-like ornament composed of four lobes, divided by cusps, radiating from a common center. Or, in simple terms, a leaf composed of four leaflets. I first noticed it in an awesome lamp by John Richard. The […]

You Nailed It!

Tacks, brads, studs, buttons … I’ve heard nailheads called many things.  People usually either love them or hate them.  Personally, I like the extra oomph that they add to furniture.  They are quite common on upholstery, especially leather.  Sometimes, however, they are applied in unexpected geometric patterns on case pieces as well.  Here are a […]
