Barclay Butera visits Furnitureland South

We’re proud to say that design icon Barclay Butera, has teamed up with Furnitureland South’s longstanding industry partner, Lexington Home Brands. The renowned interior designer recently visited Furnitureland South to talk design with our Design Consultants and debut the Newport and Brentwood Collections, which can be found in his second-floor gallery. Here’s a little bit about what we learned.

Celebrated for his fresh take on traditional style, Barclay Butera collaborated with Lexington Home Brands to create extraordinary lifestyle collections that redefine casual elegance.

Barclay’s signature style is chic, casual and always artfully curated. The design aesthetic is glamourous yet warm and inviting using a refined layering of color, texture and natural materials. He has drawn international acclaim for his ability to take classic elements and create inspired traditional, transitional and contemporary interiors.

In addition to regularly featured design projects in national publications, on television and in digital media, Barclay is a talented speaker and author of five cocktail table books on interior design. He was also the first interior designer in the 100-year history of Rolls Royce to be commissioned to collaborate on the design of a Rolls Royce Dawn, which was unveiled at the famed Concourse de Elegance show in Pebble Beach.

On top of all of this, our Design Consultants and merchandising team have paid a lot of attention to the new traditional trend. Barclay’s designs wonderfully encompass this trend.

“Traditional design elements suggest an air of familiarity, but the look needs to be fresh and fashionable,” Barclay said. “I love balancing a bold design statement with interiors that are inviting, understatedly elegant and remarkably comfortable. To me, that defines new traditional style.”

“Good design to me is a combination of yours, mine and ours.” – Barclay Butera

Read what Lexington Home Brands says about the two Barclay collections featured at Furnitureland South:

Barclay Butera, The Newport collectionThe Newport collection draws inspiration from the relaxed yet sophisticated lifestyle of the coast. Traditional designs suggest an air of familiarity, but the styling is fresh and fashionable. The collection offers two complementary wood finishes, Sandstone and Sailcloth, as well as three shades of woven raffia and two chic painted finishes. Soft linens and cottons in Barclay’s iconic blue and white, celadon and ivory, and soft shades of taupe and gray convey a relaxed aesthetic, reflecting the casual elegance of coastal living.

Barclay Butera, The Brentwood collectionThe Brentwood collection draws inspiration from the exclusive enclave near Beverly Hills and nods to the fashion and romance of the Hollywood Regency period. Designs offer a classic contemporary approach to refined urban living. The unique Wilshire gray finish, hand-waxed to a soft luster, imparts extraordinary depth to cathedral cherry and white ash burl veneers. Accents of black nickel stainless, silver leaf, ebony inlays and a rich layering of textiles contemporize the look offering a luxe interpretation of today’s new traditional style.
