Giving Back

When the opportunity to give to her community presented itself, Furnitureland South Design Consultant, Susan Cord was quick to respond. Here’s one story of how Furnitureland South employees are giving back to local communities.

Festive TablesI felt honored to design 2 tables for the Habitat for Humanity of High Point Resale Store’s Festive Tables event. As a participant in the event, we were given the task of designing a table-top display that would be a part of a silent auction.  All proceeds benefited the Habitat for Humanity of High Point.

Table ClothWhat an awesome event! The majority of the items I used for my display came from the Habitat for Humanity’s Resale Store to show attendees what you can create if you use a bit of imagination. The first table included hand-made pink table linens, a chandelier found in the Retail Store that I “recreated” with a fresh coat of bronze paint and new shades, a lovely flower arrangement from the local Harris Teeter and napkin rings (that are actually drawer pulls!).

Festive TablesThe second table featured an Artisan House piece, which I dressed up with a few candle holders, glass rocks, candles, jelly beans and an elegant calla lily.

I was fortunate to design tables alongside wonderful designers such as Raymond Waites – the evening’s featured designer whose table was highlighted with a live auction.

I must tell that the Proximity Hotel staff were awesome to all the participants. They met our every need during the set up – the gentleman who helped me hang the chandelier even spray painted the chain so it would not show!  The food was out of this world and the wait staff was very professional.  What a wonderful place to host an event of this nature.
