One of my personal all-time favorite pieces of furniture is a beautifully tailored “grande” sofa with its highly swept arms, gorgeous cording and button detail on the back, an impeccably pleated skirt and a luxurious array of throw pillows.

Needless to say, our living room was no Bernhardt collection. We attempted to keep the place looking halfway decent, but we all know how important cleaning is on the scale of things to do in college. Obviously studying came first! It was always clear when one of our parents was coming to town for a visit. Suddenly we all found the urge to straighten up the mismatched sofas and clean off the water ring stained coffee table. My parents were always gracious enough to praise me on how nice the place looked, but deep down inside I knew the truth – my father sold furniture for a living. I mean come on!

It’s funny how different I am now. When I graduated and moved into my own place, my attitude toward furniture and decor suddenly took a turn for the better. I was footing the bills and was the only one responsible for how my dwelling appeared to guests. I found a sense of pride for my belongings; particularly my decorations and furniture. When I moved, my parents gave me one of the best gifts I could have ever imagined for a new place and for someone out on their own for the first time — NEW FURNITURE!!

How fast do I want the furniture? Expected delivery times vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, as well as store to store. Some stores “stock” merchandise and only offer you a couple of options. While this can benefit you in faster delivery times, the downside is that your fabric and color options can be extremely limited. At Furnitureland South, we offer products for sale from our Showroom floor for immediate delivery, as well as the option to customize your order to fit your lifestyle. Custom upholstery {personalizing your selection with custom fabric and finish options} will normally take 8-10 weeks of production time. Bedroom and dining room furniture, however, can be shipped to Furnitureland South in 2-12 weeks depending upon availability.

What is my style and budget? If you have a particular style in mind, be sure to mention that to your Design Consultant when beginning the shopping process. Not sure what your style is? Look through magazines and find pictures of rooms that are appealing to your sense of style. Just by looking at a photo, we can offer you a number of different options at varying price points.

Will I have to settle? This question will determine where you shop. If you go to a small furniture store, the odds of finding exactly what you want are rather small. If you go to a chain store that offers complete room settings, you’re only going to see what they have available right now. If you choose to come to Furnitureland South, you will have access to 1.3 million square feet of showroom space with styles from Contemporary to Traditional from more than 400 different manufacturers. Settling at Furnitureland South is never an option.
