The “Alternative”

Coffee tables. Who needs ’em!? Some of my favorite pieces are those that are used for a function other than the one for which they were originally created. For something that is so often a focal point, shouldn’t a coffee table strike up a little more interest?

An interesting piece like this travel trunk can be used as a coffee table in your living area, while offering storage for blankets and pillows.

This Ekornes double ottoman creates an awesome place to rest your feet, all the while leaving a place for snacks and drinks. It makes me want to curl up and watch a movie.

This Howard Miller bench is another great way to get the comfort of an ottoman while still maintaining the function of a coffee table.

And now for my favorite! Drum roll please …   _MG_7560-Edit

… the cart!!! I am seeing this new trend everywhere and I love it! This one is called the “Shopping Cart” from Hooker Furniture. It will definitely bring a story to your room!

Personally, I’m a sucker for furnishings that are both multi-functional and conversation pieces. What will be the next alternative coffee table?
